Canada wins the Game…And the Fight

I guest everybody forgot about NAFTA during a match in the WBC between Canada and Mexico yesterday. After Rene Tosoni was hit by a pitch both benches cleared, words were exchanged, and then punches were thrown. The incident seemed to stem from the Canadian team trying to get more runs in the 9th inning, which is beneficial to them as runs are calculated into the tie-breaking equation. What’s more interesting is that World Baseball Classic Inc. didn’t discipline anyone after the event claiming:

“Because at least one club — and potentially both — will not advance to the second round, WBCI has determined that disciplinary measures would not have a meaningful corrective impact,” the statement read. “Thus, discipline will not be imposed beyond today’s seven game ejections.”

Interesting side notes from the brawl is that there were multiple interactions between the Canadian team and the pro-Mexico crowd, including water bottles being thrown both ways and a fan throw a ball at a first base coach. A classic basebrawl!

Don’t Do It Daylight Saving Fashion Tip – Manpris? Man Capris?

The Malepris? Male/Man Capris? What every they are or are call are a big don’t do it. I mean they are equivalent to the male tramp stamp. This is one of the worst trends of the last 20 years and tends to show it’s ugly head around this time of year when the weather warms up just enough to forgo a quarter of your pants but not quite enough to go full shorts. Serious does any man think this is a good idea?? When you turn your clock forward don’t forget to throw these things in the garbage.

Rocket Engines…Open Sourced?

There is a competition going on at SXSW to make rocket engine DIY. Not sure how great an idea that is but DIYRockets is up to the task.

Here’s the challenge: Build a rocket engine. Don’t worry, you don’t need much.

At the SXSW festival in Austin on Saturday, startup companies DIYRockets and Sunglass are launching a competition to create 3-D-printed rocket engines with open source (read: free) technology.

Sunglass co-founder Nitin Rao says they want to make space travel “less expensive, more global, more transparent.”
