Custom Dress Shirts: Proper Cloth

11 Aug

When it comes to men’s fine fashion there are two staples that just can’t be avoided: the shirt and the tie. We will have lots of information of ties in the upcoming weeks but today we are going to talk a little bit about shirts, and in particular custom dress shirts. Initially this use to be a thing of luxury as  online merchandiser and fine haberdashers, such as Brook’s Brother’s offered custom-made dress shirts at fairly absorbent price. But today that is not the case. Of note is Proper Cloth.

I just caught wind of one of the most amazing online shirt sites: Proper Cloth.  They specialize in custom-made dress shirts at affordable prices, including base price of 79.99. They have an extensive fabric gallery that includes most of the hot summer pieces that we talked about in a previous host.  First you select you fabric, then style of collar and cuff, and add any personalization (collar accents, monograms, etc). You add your next and shirt size and presto you get a shirt in the mail that is you fabric, style, and size. And what if it doesn’t fit? The first alteration on return is free. And if you like you can send in your favorite shirt and they can match the size and cut and return it with your purchase.

The company is start-up of MIT grad and founder Seph Skerritt. He runs the entire operation remotely from his office in New York. Seph and Proper Cloth have been featured in GQ, NY TImes, Playboy, WWD, Fast Company, Wired Magazine and Men’s Journal.

Our add seems like it would be perfect to add your shirts to before they arrive to see if that match with ties you already have. For more information see us at
